The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport is accepting resumes for the position of Assistant Executive Director.

The Assistant Executive aids the Executive Director in managing all activities of the airport, including strategic planning, finance, operational and regulatory compliance. Knowledge of FAA regulations, RFQ/RFP development, and grant processing is required. Strong economic development and information technology skills are desired. Candidates should demonstrate extensive and varied airport experience with strong leadership skills and interpersonal relationship skills. As directed, the Assistant Executive Director of AVP must communicate with the public, press, aviation community, and appropriate governmental entities, with major emphasis in fostering partnerships with travelers in Northeastern Pennsylvania. The AVP Summer Help Program provides short-term assistance to AVP and allows individuals the opportunity to gain on-the-job experience. In addition to the work produced, individuals within the Summer Help Program are a potential recruitment source for full-time positions.

    Employment Period

The 2017 Program runs from June 1st through August 18th.


A total of four (4) positions are available in the following combined areas:
• Building Maintenance
• Grounds Maintenance (Landscaping and Horticulture)


To be eligible for the Program, you must:
• Be at least 18 years of age
• Have a valid state Driver’s License
• Provide your own housing and transportation.

AVP seeks self-motivated individuals with strong interpersonal and organizational skills. Individuals should be able to work both independently and in a team environment.

    Pay and Work Hours

Summer Help individuals are paid at a rate of $10.00 per hour; are ineligible for pay on holidays; may not work more than 40 hours per week; and will not receive any type of health benefits.

    Background Check

Selected individuals are required to undergo a full background check.
