Travelers out of Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport Now Have Access to TSA Pre✓

tsapre-01

AVOCA, Pa. – Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) is now participating in the TSA Pre✓® program, which allows travelers in the program to leave on their shoes, light outerwear and belt, keep their laptop in its case and their 3-1-1 compliant liquids/gels bag in a carry-on.

The TSA Pre✓® lane will be open during the airport’s peak hours and will be flexed to accommodate delays or flight changes.

“We continue to enhance the customer experience at AVP, and the arrival of TSA Pre✓® provides another convenience for our passengers.” – Tim McGinley, AVP Board Chairman.

To be eligible for this expedited screening program, individuals need to apply. The TSA PreP® application program requires a background check, fingerprints, and an application fee of $85 for a five-year membership. Once approved, travelers will receive a Known Traveler Number (KTN) and will have the opportunity to utilize TSA Pre✓® lanes at security checkpoints at more than 180 participating airports and on 30 airlines.

U.S. citizens and lawful permanent residents are able to go through a five-minute pre-enrollment process online and complete their seven-minute background interview at an application center.

For a list of application center addresses and hours in the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton area, visit https://universalenroll.dhs.gov/.

As always, TSA continues to incorporate random and unpredictable security measures throughout the airport and no individual will be guaranteed expedited screening.

Additional program information and how to enroll can be found at TSA.gov.

The Transportation Security Administration was created to strengthen the security of the nation’s transportation systems and ensure the freedom of movement for people and commerce. TSA uses a risk-based strategy and works closely with transportation, law enforcement and intelligence communities to set the standard for excellence in transportation security.
