Changes to United Airlines’ Service at AVP Coming This June

Avoca, PA (February 23, 2024) – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) has received word from United Airlines that effective June 27, 2024, United’s twice daily service to Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) will be replaced with twice daily service to Washington-Dulles International Airport (IAD).

The service between AVP and IAD will be provided by CommutAir with 50-seat Embraer 145 Regional Jets.

AVP officials have reached out to United and thanked them for their continued support in providing service to AVP and Northeastern Pennsylvania travelers, and assured them that their partnership is valued.

AVP’s service to Dulles was replaced with service to Newark in March 2022. At that time, the service was replaced to match supply with demand during the pandemic.

United will continue to provide daily nonstop service from AVP to Chicago O’Hare International Airport (ORD).

Flights to/from IAD will operate on the following schedule:

Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AVP) to Washington-Dulles (IAD):

Depart AVP at 10:05 AM; Arrive IAD at 11:14 AM

Depart AVP at 2:45 PM; Arrive IAD at 3:54 PM

Washington-Dulles (IAD) to Wilkes-Barre/Scranton (AVP):

Depart IAD at 12:45 PM; Arrive AVP at 1:54 PM

Depart IAD at 5:40 PM; Arrive AVP at 6:58 PM
