AVP Purchases New Major Firefighting Vehicle

Avoca, PA (March 24, 2022) – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport recently purchased a new major firefighting vehicle.

The vehicle is a 2022 Airport Class IV Major Firefighting Vehicle from Emergency One, Inc., Ocala, Florida.  Delivery was made on March 18, 2022.

The E-One “Titan” 4×4 is an all-wheel drive Airport Rescue and Fire Fighting (ARFF) Vehicle with a 1,585 gallon water capacity, 225 gallon Aqueous Film Forming Foam (AFFF) capacity, and carries 500 pounds of Purple-K Dry Chemical Agent. It also features a large diameter pump intake, structural style pump panel, and a low reach RHINO bumper turret. The vehicle is configured to support a crew of three.

The total cost of the fire truck is $763,352.00, which is 100% funded through the Airport’s Passenger Facility Charge (PFC) Program.

The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport now has a total of five (5) Rescue & Firefighting Vehicles.  This newest vehicle expands the airport’s rescue/fire capability to above the Federal Aviation Administration’s mandated index standard for the size of the Airport.
