UnitedCRJ200

Avoca, PA (November 20, 2020) – The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport (AVP) announced recently that United Express will, once again, offer Northeastern Pennsylvania travelers daily service between Wilkes-Barre/Scranton and United’s hub at Washington Dulles International Airport (IAD). The service at AVP will restart on December 17, 2020.

United Express will off up to two nonstop, round trip flights daily between AVP and IAD using a 50-seat regional jet aircraft.

“United continues to show support for the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport and Northeastern Pennsylvania travelers,” said Lackawanna County Commissioner Debi Domenick, Esq., Chairperson, Bi-County Airport Board.

United will offer up to two flights a day to IAD, departing AVP at 8:00 AM and 3:18 PM. Flights will arrive at AVP from IAD at 11:53 AM and 7:03 PM.

Carl Beardsley, AVP Executive Director, said, “We recognize the economic downturn that hit the airline industry as a result of COVID-19, and we are really excited that United is committing additional flights to AVP by restarting the Washington-Dulles route. This additional service will complement United’s existing Chicago O’Hare service at AVP, as customer demand continues to grow.”
